About Joshua

“I love Albuquerque—but let’s be honest: our city is in crisis. These aren’t just policy debates or philosophical disagreements. These are real problems that threaten our lives and the future of our community.

We have one of the highest violent crime rates in the nation. Homeless encampments have taken over our streets and parks. The fentanyl crisis is claiming lives every single day. And everyday families—hard-working people—can’t afford rent, let alone dream of owning a home.

We need change. Not next year. Not someday. Now.

I’m Joshua Neal, a civil engineer and a lifelong Albuquerque native. I’m 28 years old, and I’m ready to get to work and fight for our City.  What we need right now is a new generation of leadership—leaders who aren’t part of the same broken systems that got us here.

I’ve spent time overseas working with immigrants and refugees fleeing the collapse of Venezuela. My personal experience working with displaced peoples taught me how important good policy is, how we need to care for our neighbors in need, how fragile stability can be—and how important it is to fight for the place you call home.

Now, I’m stepping up to do just that. I’m running for City Council to bring real solutions to the challenges we face:
• Fight crime with urgency and accountability.
• Address homelessness with compassion and enforcement.
• Tackle the cost of living so families can afford to stay here and thrive.

This is personal to me. I was raised here. I work here. I want to raise my own family here one day. That’s why I’m in this fight—for our neighborhoods, our future, and our city.

Let’s fix this, together.”
